Jessica Troy, viola

Jessica Troy, a native New Yorker, wears a wide variety of freelance hats.

On the Baroque viola she performs with many ensembles, including Four Nations, Sebastian Chamber Players, Helicon, Dodd String Quartet, Clarion, Concert Royal, New York Baroque Incorporated, and 4x4 Baroque. She appears as principal violist with the Trinity Baroque Orchestra and Opera Lafayette, and appeared with Renée Fleming on the David Letterman Show.

As violist with the Mark Morris Dance Group Music Ensemble since 1998, she has toured extensively - from San Juan to Sydney, from Moscow, Idaho to Moscow, Russia - and performed with Yo-Yo Ma across the US and Japan. A member of the Orchestra of St. Luke's, the Brooklyn and Westchester Philharmonics, and the New York City Opera Orchestra, she also performs frequently with many other area ensembles, including the Mostly Mozart Festival Orchestra, NOVUS NY, American Composers Orchestra, and the Philharmonia Orchestra of New York.

She has recorded quartet parts for Lou Reed and Ani DiFranco, performed on TV with Whitney Houston, and on film with David Byrne. A participant at many illustrious music festivals, including Prussia Cove, Tanglewood, Spoleto, and Marlboro, she can be heard on Marlboro's 50th anniversary CD in a live performance of György Kurtág's Microludes for string quartet, which she prepared with the composer.
