Kirsten Blaise, soprano

One of the most remarkable young singers to emerge in recent years, soprano Kirsten Blaise is rapidly earning outstanding critical acclaim for her performances in opera, concerts and recitals throughout the world. Ms. Blaise is an artist of broad scope whose repertoire ranges from John Dowland to John Adams, from Chamber Music to Opera. She has been in particular demand for her interpretations of Bach, Handel, Mozart, and repertoire of the French Baroque.

In 2007 Kirsten Blaise became a fest artist with the Badisches Staatstheater in Karlsruhe where she sang her first performances of Donna Anna in Mozart's’ Don Giovanni, Cleopatra in Handel’s Giulio Cesare, the Queen of the Night in Mozarts’ Zauberflöte, Lisa in Lehár’s Land des Lächelns and Handels’ La Ressurezione.

Maintaining a busy schedule of guest appearances, she made her debut this spring at the Beethoven Easter Festival in Warsaw singing Mozart concert arias with the Bremen Kammerphilharmonie under Trevor Pinnock. She has become a regular guest with the Staatsoper in Stuttgart and has performed recently with the Washington Bach Consort, as well as critically acclaimed performances at the Karlsruhe Handel Festspiele, the Ludwigsburger Schlossfestspiele, and the Halle Handel Festspiel.

She sang Mozart's Coronation Mass for her debut with the Edmonton Symphony under the direction of William Eddins, Bach's Peasant Cantata and Monteverdi Vespers with the Bachakademie in Stuttgart under the direction of Helmuth Rilling. In 2005-2006 she sang the role of Woglinde in Wagner’s Ring Cycle at the Theâtre du Châtelet conducted by Christoph Eschenbach and directed by Robert Wilson She sang the title role in Handel’s Almira at the 2005 Händel Festspiele in Karlsruhe, Handel’s Messiah with the Noord Nederlands Orkest and Sacchini’s Oedipe à Colone with Opera Lafayette, which was recorded for release by Naxos.

Since making her professional debut with the Indianapolis Chamber Orchestra in 1996, she has sung with the BBC Symphony, London Sinfonietta, Netherlands Radio Philharmonic, Noord Nederlands Orkest, Badisches Staatskapelle, Netherlands Opera, Stuttgart Opera, Karlsruhe Händel Festspiele, Halle Händel Festspiele, Opera Theatre of Saint Louis, Brooklyn Philharmonic, Stamford Symphony, American Classical Orchestra, Dallas Bach Society, Oregon Bach Festival, Carmel Bach Festival, Concert Royal and with Le Parlement de Musique. She made her Concertgebouw debut with the Netherlands Radio Philharmonic Orchestra in Vaughan Williams’ Sinfonia Antarctica, under Richard Hickox in 2003. In 2003 she also sang Handel’s Gloria at the Carmel Bach Festival, John Adams’ Grand Pianola Music with the London Sinfonietta at Lincoln Center and Rossini’s Stabat Mater with the Noord Nederlands Orkest under Michael Hof&stetter.
