"Their
view of these charming, engaging, and neglected works is weighted
with lyricism, rhythmic drive, and even an occasionl dash of humor;
precision, intonation and dialog are splendid." --- American

This disc marks the completion of a two-disc set featuring world
première recordings of the enlivening music of Silesian composer
Johann Schobert, and marking the recording debut of The Four Nations
Ensemble. Schobert helped establish the classical chamber music
idiom, influencing Mozart and the Mannheim School. With his beguiling
Op.5 & 6 Sonatas, Schobert's use of violin and cello turned
the trio into a small orchestra. The companion disc of Op.16
Sonatas (CD GAU 156) was well received: "...the excellent
playing on this disc enables one to savour the variety and skill
of his work...The performers interpret the music with flair and
understanding..."
